AuditWare Engine Updates
ENGINE UPDATE 12/19/01
A lead schedule may now be produced in Report Master which lists the
undefined accounts (those with "No definition found" as the
descriptor). This will be of primary use to users of AuditWare for Local
Governments to determine the accounts which the client has added in the current
period which weren't present when the chart of accounts was initially set up. To
create the report, select UNDEFINED from the lead schedule menu. Thanks to Elton
Reneaux of Holtman, Wagner, LLP of New Braunfels, TX for the idea for this
report.
ENGINE UPDATE 12/9/01
A minor change was made in the method of shrinking to fit the page in the
unusual case where combining general fund statements have been activated and are
being printed.
ENGINE UPDATE 11/30/01
The "Other Auditor's Reports" divider sheet now changes the
word Auditor's to Auditors' when the setting is set to do so in the
questionnaire for the letters. Most users will not need this update.
ENGINE UPDATE 11/26/01
1) The CTRL J (Justify) quick key now justifies paragraphs in the Schedule of
Findings and Questioned Costs when running under windows.
2) A further improvement was made in the "quickoffice" routine mentioned in the 11/24/01 update.
ENGINE UPDATE 11/24/01
The procedures introduced in the 11/20/01 update regarding updating of data
columns have been further enhanced to apply to the "quickoffice"
routine, preventing unnecessary updating when switching between the FieldWork
and OfficeWork modules.
ENGINE UPDATE 11/23/01
The procedures introduced in the 11/20/01 update regarding updating of data
columns have now been expanded to apply to the turnkey and cross-check commands,
causing those commands to operate properly.
ENGINE UPDATE 11/20/01
1) Of primary benefit to users of Audit I.S.D. for Texas School Districts,
the process of determining whether data columns need to be updated has been
revised to consider the prior year separately from the current year. The recent
update of the Audit I.S.D. product in which the Other Resources and Other Uses
are detailed out on the operating statements has been updating the current year
data but making it necessary to select "Refresh the current client's data
files" from the FieldWork Utilities menu in order to get the prior year
memorandum totals updated. This Engine update makes that extra step (which can
be quite time consuming for a large school) unnecessary.
2) For all users, when the fund type of a fund is changed using Individual Fund Settings, that fund is now immediately re-saved with the new fund type in place, so as to properly update the OfficeWork data columns.
ENGINE UPDATE 11/13/01
In a major enhancement useful to users of AuditWare for Local Governments,
class abbreviations are now placed in the trial balances automatically when they
are present in the object code definition setup and are missing from the trial
balance. This comes into play when an ASCII file has been used to import trial
balance data for a new data period and when keying trial balance data manually.
The existence of this new feature makes it highly advisable to include classes
in your object code definition setups. When keying in data manually, the class
can now be initially omitted. Then, the next time that trial balance is loaded
the classes will be present.
ENGINE UPDATE 11/12/01
This update corrects a problem when creating Exhibit A-1 when you have all
nine possible fund types active plus a discretely presented component unit.
ENGINE UPDATE 11/7/01
Two minor changes: 1) The column width of the "class" column
has been widened by one character to insure that all class abbreviations fully
print when selecting PRINT, TRIAL_BALANCE, PLAIN from the FieldWork menu; 2)
Program Intent code 11 now is included on the list when you select PROGRAM from
the lead schedule menu in Report Master and you are using the Audit I.S.D.
product.
ENGINE UPDATE 10/23/01
Exhibits A-4 and A-5 are now activated in the unusual situation of the
client having a proprietary discretely presented component unit but no other
proprietary funds and no nonexpendable trust funds. Most users will not need
this update.
ENGINE UPDATE 10/12/01
When the setting "Include shading formatting when printing?"
is set for NO, printing a financial statement now saves the file without the
shading. This makes for easier viewing on some laptops.
ENGINE UPDATE 10/10/01
1) An additional capacity has been added to financial statement
("exhibit") setups. Previously, one could enter the line number of
another line into the "Always Keep This Row" column to relate the
active status of the current line with that of another, but there was no way to
relate to two lines. Now you can place "BOTH 22 and 33" in that
column, meaning "Make this line active only if both line 22 and 33 are
active." The entry must start with the word "BOTH" but additional
text may be added at the end if desired, such as " are active." Which
such changes as this are normally used only in the ALG product, this feature is
used in today's update of the TSD product operating statements, causing the line
"Total Other Financing Sources and (Uses)" only to appear when both
the Sources and Uses sections are active.
2) Zero amounts now appear as dashes in California school financial statements by default for new data periods, rather than as blanks, the previous default. The blanks cell initial default was suggested by a user last year, but we believe the majority of California users now use dashes. To change this setting, go to Settings and select the "Exhibit Creation Settings" category of settings.
3) A technical "go to" has been added to the process of placing the descriptors in financial statements to attempt to prevent the rare occurrence of their being omitted entirely.
ENGINE UPDATE 10/3/01
1) Report Master reports now print with grid lines by default. To turn
grid lines off or on, select "Change the Report Settings," then
DEFAULT, then GRID_LINES and select YES or NO.. Thanks to Scott Evans and Laura
Bradford of Burkey, Cos, Evans & Manning of Lancaster, CA for suggesting
this enhancement.
2) A line for ending fund balance has been added to the report which appears when you select GO_TO, REPORTS, CLASS or PRINT, CLASS_REPORT from the main FieldWork module menu. Also, the "Total Fund Equity" line has been renamed "Beginning Fund Balance" and moved down to be just above the new "Ending Fund Balance" line.
3) AuditWare's e-mail address and web site address now appear in the message that appears when you press escape while on the AuditWare Access menu, in addition to the 800 number for support as before.
ENGINE UPDATE 10/2/01
1) A change was made in the method of updating data columns when a
change in a chart of accounts setup occurs. This should further insure that
variance columns on budget comparison statements are created (see 9/30/01
update).
2) Exhibit A-3 will now accommodate all five possible fund types (all governmental types plus expendable trust when set for being a budgeted fund) as well as memorandum totals. Thanks to Scott Evans of Burkey, Cox, Evans & Manning of Lancaster, CA for pointing out the need for this change.
ENGINE UPDATE 9/30/01
1) A change was made in the method of updating data columns when trial
balances are saved in an attempt to correct the rare occurrence of the variance
columns being blank on the general purpose budget comparison exhibit (A-3) when
it is created. While the problem has always been able to be corrected by
selecting "Refresh the current client's data files" from the FieldWork
"Utilities" menu, please let us know if you experience this problem
after installing this update. We have not been able to make the problem occur
with our testing, so we're not sure if this change corrects it.
2) Previously, when you selected the FieldWork utility "Refresh the current client's data files" and also answered "Yes" when asked if you wanted to re-post all adjustment journals, only the current year's data files were refreshed (re-saved). Now, both the current and prior year files are refreshed regardless of your answer.
ENGINE UPDATE
9/27/01
1) The table numbers (Table 1, Table 2, etc.) for users of AuditWare for
California School Districts now begin with Table 1, correcting a misnumbering
introduced in the 9/20/01 update.
2) When users of Audit I.S.D. for Texas School Districts are entering an adjustment in the adjustment journal for a governmental fund and an expenditure is entered with a zero function code, a confirming menu now appears which asks "Are you sure you want to enter an expenditure with a zero function code?. Thanks to Allen Younts of John R. Pechacek, CPAS of Bellville, TX for suggesting this feature.
ENGINE UPDATE
9/26/01
1) When loading a client from a floppy disk and that client is already
on the hard disk, a backup copy of the client's archive file is now copied to
the \AW\TEMP folder in case the loading process is unsuccessful, such as when
the diskette has a bad sector. Also, when AuditWare detects that you are loading
the same client twice on the same day from a floppy disk, a message and
confirming menu will appear to be sure you do not accidentally overwrite the
backup file. You must also download AuditWare Utilities for this
"fail-safe" process to take place. Thanks to Bob Wilkerson of Harlan
& Boettger, LLP in San Diego, CA for suggesting the need for this update.
2) The process of accessing the cross-check report in the OfficeWork module has been changed to prevent an occasional problem of it requiring the update of data columns when they are in no need of updating.
3) The "Refresh the current client's data files" utility (utility # 3 in the FieldWork module) has been improved. Previously, when you answered YES to the question "Do you want to re-post all adjustment journals when refreshing?" only the current year of data was updated. Now, both the current year and prior year data (when present) is updated.
ENGINE UPDATE
9/22/01
1) For users of AuditWare for California School Districts (non-SACS),
the financial statement setup for the proprietary operating statement will
automatically be changed out to be the default setup (see CSN changes).
2) The technical process of activating individual fund statements using the Settings menu has been improved. It is still necessary to re-save the trial balance in the FieldWork module when one is activated but the FieldWork module is now immediately notified that an individual fund statement is active for that fund. This change is primarily useful to users of AuditWare for Local Governments and of the CAFR add-in, but is effective for users of other products when individual funds are occasionally activated.
AUDITWARE ENGINE UPDATE
9/21/01
1) The letter on major federal programs required for single audits now
refers to major programs in the singular when the client has only one major
program. A new question is now in the questionnaire for the letters (see the
"Regarding Letter 3" section) which asks whether there is more than
one major program. The default answer is yes.
2) In the table of contents, the titles of individual fund budget comparison statements, such as for the general fund, now use the words "fund balance," rather than "fund balances" to be consistent with the titles on the statements themselves.
Thanks to Chris Culak of Roloff, Hnatek & Co., L.L.P. in Victoria, TX for suggesting the above changes and the change included in today's update of the Audit I.S.D. product.
3) A relatively rare problem has been corrected in which an error is produced in the final paragraph of the second letter,
AUDITWARE ENGINE UPDATE
9/20/01
1) There is a new setting to determine whether you want to have the SEFA
schedule (Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards and its accompanying notes)
automatically de-activated when the current client is not a single audit.
You will be prompted for an initial answer for the setting once this download is
installed. This setting is not effective for users of AuditWare for California
School Districts, since the State requires this schedule in all cases.
2) Further improvement was made in dealing with fund types when creating the table of contents (see 9/17/01 update, # 2).
3) Changes were made which improve the sequencing of exhibit letters (C-1, D-1, etc.) in certain cases.
AUDITWARE ENGINE UPDATE
9/17/01
1) A correction was made to the Optimum Fund Balance schedule for users
of Audit I.S.D. for Texas School Districts to capture the current year fund
balances, rather than the prior year ones. For schedules already established,
either accessing it from the FieldWork module or printing it from the OfficeWork
module will automatically make the correction in those amounts.
2) The table of contents creation process has improved to better deal with certain fund types being active and/or inactive, particularly in regard to trust and agency funds.
AUDITWARE ENGINE UPDATE
9/15/01
When a fund is deleted using FieldWork utility # 1, "Create new
funds or delete existing ones," the client's archive file is now refreshed
to remove the associated files for that fund.
AUDITWARE ENGINE UPDATE
9/14/01
1) A problem was corrected in Report Master in running a budget variance
or year to year variance report for expenditures. Object code 6149 is no longer
reported for all functions in the Audit I.S.D. product.
2) The process of saving a trial balance, which previously only used an extract process, now also saves trial balance files with the normal save command in order to decrease the file size.
3) There is a new tool for removing inactive trial balance files from the client's archive file in order to decrease it's size. To access it, select "Use AuditWare Tools" from the AuditWare Access menu, then "Perform activities with archive files." It is the last item on the list which will appear.
4) Exhibit A-1 may now be successfully created in the rare case where the client has no general operating fund (general or proprietary fund type) or the user creates that exhibit before establishing such a fund.
AUDITWARE ENGINE UPDATE 9/9/01
1) Rarely, when converting very large ASCII files, data is placed in
error in rows 8000-8009 of the trial balance. This update corrects the trial
balance when this occurs.
2) There is now better handling of empty trial balances, those which contain no data.
AUDITWARE ENGINE UPDATE 9/6/01
1) Upon exiting from AuditWare you are now prompted as to whether you
want to update the current client's archive file before exiting.
2) On the AuditWare Tools menu, several items have been placed in a submenu called "Shortcuts to program features" and three new shortcuts were added. They are "Convert or re-convert an ASCII file," "Go to Individual Fund Settings," and "Go to Notes to the Financial Statements (FieldWork)."
AUDITWARE ENGINE UPDATE 9/4/01
All installation files have been updated to allow up to 3 products or up
to 2 products and the AuditWare Utilities to be placed on the same diskette when
selecting "Create an install disk from a file downloaded from the internet
(TheAudit.com). See Utilities Changes dated today
for more details.
AUDITWARE ENGINE UPDATE
8/28/01
1) The process of creating the Indirect Cost Schedule for users of Audit
I.S.D. for Texas School Districts has been changed, since the Texas Education
Agency has changed the format of that schedule. See today's update on the Audit I.S.D. Updates
page for important additional information by clicking here.
The Audit I.S.D. product must be downloaded and installed as well to get all of
this change.
2) When loading a client from a diskette or saving to a diskette, the amount of time allowed for this process before the prompt "Continue to wait for processing?" appears has been changed from 40 seconds to 5 minutes.
3) In the OfficeWork module, the selective updating of data columns when a chart of accounts setup changes is now also utilized by the "Turnkey" command, rather than just by the "Create" command as in the past. This change is primarily useful to users of AuditWare for Local Governments.
4) The Exhibit A-3 creation process has been revised to handle exhibit setups in AuditWare for Local Governments of up to 80 lines, an increase of 10 lines.
AUDITWARE ENGINE UPDATE
8/15/01
1) The AuditWare Access Menu file has been moved from AuditWare
Utilities to the AuditWare Engine. Hopefully, this will make the Utilities
change less frequently.
2) The version date of the AuditWare Utilities is now checked each time AuditWare is loaded and now appears at the bottom of the AuditWare Access Menu screen, in addition to the date of AuditWare Engine as in the past. Thanks to Charles Fankhauser of Long, Chilton, et al of McAllen, TX for this suggestion.
3) On 8/17/01, the following changes were made to the Engine without changing the version date: When printing the notes to the financial statements in Windows, a Windows-specific print command is now used., preventing an occasional occurrence of the worksheet being printed, rather than the selected print range. Also, when selecting "Install an AuditWare upgrade disk" from the AuditWare Tools menu, you are now prompted as to whether the upgrade is on a diskette or a CD-ROM disk. We have not yet distributed AuditWare on a CD but plan to do so soon.
AUDITWARE ENGINE UPDATE 8/6/01
1) The FieldWork "Financial Statement" report (GO_TO, REPORTS,
STATEMENT) has been reactivated for products with a statewide chart of accounts
(TSD, CSD).
2) All adjustment journal entries marked as "passed" no longer post to the trial balance, even when they share a common account code with non-passed entries.
3) A problem has been corrected whereby the "client2" file was sometimes placed in the \AWDATA folder when there was no current client.
4) There was no change in the "AuditWare Utilities" file with this update, so it need not be downloaded.
AUDITWARE ENGINE UPDATE
7/23/01
Various technical changes were made to enhance operational capacities.
AUDITWARE ENGINE UPDATED
7/3/01 AND NEW "AUDITWARE UTILITIES" FILE ESTABLISHED
1) The biggest change in this update is that the Engine as been divided
into two files and involves two downloads. One download continues to be called
the AuditWare Engine with a download file called ENGFILES.EXE while the new
second one is called AuditWare Utilities and has a file name of UTLFILES.EXE.
Both must be downloaded from our Downloads page and
installed with this update. After download when you select "Create an
install disk from a file downloaded from the internet" using the existing
program you will not see a select for creating an AuditWare Utilities install
disk. However, if you will proceed with the AuditWare Engine and answer Yes when
asked "Update this computer?" the command will be there when you
return to the AuditWare Tools menu. See AuditWare News
for more information about this change.
2) This change also includes additional GASB 34 features. The command on the AuditWare Access Menu to change back and forth between the old and new reporting models is now functional. Also, most of the new statement types now appear on the CREATE menu of the OfficeWork module. Keep in mind, however, that these statements do not yet create in GASB 34 format.
AUDITWARE ENGINE UPDATE
5/30/01
1) All auditor reports have been revised to reflect the country of
origin when referring to GAAP or GAAS. "Generally accepted accounting
principles," for instance, now reads "accounting principles generally
accepted in the United States of America." This change is required by SAS
No. 93 for all reports issued or reissued on or after June 30, 2001.
2) Existing users of any AuditWare product may now download and install the AuditWare for Local Governments (ALG) product on a free trial basis. Since such downloading and installation would normally require you to have an existing ALG client, a new command now appears on the AuditWare Tools menu entitled "Make an install disk for AuditWare for Local Governments on a Free Trial Basis." You may also download the "City of Anywhere" sample client files from the Downloads page.
AUDITWARE ENGINE UPDATE
5/21/01
1) The column widths are now set automatically when adding a new section
to the notes in the FieldWork module.
2) The "Significant Changes in Audit Guidance" exhibit to the user manual has been updated to include SAS 93, which requires including the country of origin when referring to either GAAP or GAAS in auditor reports issued on or after 6/30/01.
AUDITWARE ENGINE UPDATE
5/15/01
1) There is a new "LASTYEAR" command on the menu which appears
when viewing exhibits or schedules in the OfficeWork menu which allows you to
either view or import the prior year data for that exhibit or schedule.
2) A problem has been corrected regarding starting a new client when only one AuditWare product is installed on a computer.
3) The FieldWork utility command "Create new funds or delete existing ones" now also appears on the AuditWare Tools menu.
AUDITWARE ENGINE UPDATE
5/04/01
This corrects a problem in capturing amounts by class in the FieldWork
module.
AUDITWARE ENGINE UPDATE
4/28/01
1) In a major change, all products and the AuditWare Engine have been
changed to allow a client's data year to be changed to 2001 by use of a
password. The password will be provided to users who have paid their 2001
renewal fee. In the past, all AuditWare users had to receive the program by
diskette once a year to facilitate this change. Both the Engine and the
product(s) to which you subscribe must be downloaded and installed. If you need
the password before receiving it in the mail, give us a call at (800) 688-2333.
2) On the SEFA schedule, pass-through identifying numbers are now centered in the column.
3) The default font is now restored for the line item descriptions on the financial statements to assure that it always matches that of the dollar amounts.
4) The default amount of memory supplied to AuditWare with the "AW" command has been changed from 4 MB to 11 MB.
5) When performing an initial installation of AuditWare in a network environment and the AuditWare program already is installed on a network drive, AuditWare may now be installed on drive C or another local drive without having to log off the network.
AUDITWARE ENGINE UPDATE 4/5/01
1) A change was made in the installation process to correct an
occasional problem.
2) Two new settings were added in the "FieldWork and Miscellaneous" category of settings. They are "Run AuditWare in maximized window at start up?" and "Zoom in at start up?". These settings provide more flexibility in running AuditWare on various monitors of various sizes.
AUDITWARE ENGINE UPDATE
3/30/01
1) A number of technical changes have been made to provide additional compatibility with Windows
2000. The most noticeable is the new look of the client list when you select
"Load A Different Client" from the Access Menu.
2) Most useful for ALG users, when you change a chart of accounts setup and subsequently select CREATE from the OfficeWork Module menu, the data columns for trial balances are now updated selectively. This means only the setup which has changed is reprocessed and only for the fund types for which it is active.
3) The totals for "passed" adjustments for all funds, not just for the current fund, are now reported when you select VERIFY, then PASSED from the adjustment journal menu.
4) The commands GO_TO, LIST and PRINT, LIST now appear on the FieldWork Module menu for all products, not just for Audit I.S.D. for Texas School Districts. Also, 16 new types of lists have been added to this menu.
5) When selecting "Install an AuditWare upgrade disk" from the AuditWare Tools menu, the process of placing AuditWare on your Windows Start menu no longer runs each time the AuditWare Engine is updated. It now runs only on initial installations. Also, this process now deals only with Windows 95, 98, NT, ME and 2000. It no longer runs when you are using Windows 3.1 or 3.11.
6) The DE-INSTALL command has been removed from the installation menu. AuditWare may now be de-installed by dragging the AW folder to the Recycle Bin, using either My Computer or Windows Explorer. See chapter 1 of the user manual, or on-line help, for information about retaining your client data when de-installing.
7) Most useful to ALG users, the liability section of the the general purpose balance sheet statement has been expanded by five lines.
AUDITWARE ENGINE UPDATE
2/25/01
1) The process of printing a "plain" trial balance under Windows has
been changed to add the "shrink to fit columns" feature to prevent an
occasional problem of the final column printing on an additional page. 2) A
print range problem associated with printing the list of funds has been
corrected and when a fund list which exceeds one page (more than approximately
60 funds), the column headings now appear on all pages.
AUDITWARE ENGINE UPDATE 2/5/01
1) In support of SAS 89, which is required for periods ending 12.31/00 and
later, adjustments are now divided into three categories: adjustments (normal
posted adjustments which are also posted by the client), reclassifications
(adjustments posted for reporting purposes only which are not to be posted by
the client) and passed (unposted adjustments determined to be immaterial both
individually and in the aggregate). There is a new column of the adjustment
journal in which will appear either A, R or P, representing these adjustment
types. By selecting VERIFY from the journal menu, then PASSED, you can determine
the affect of all passed entries in that journal on assets, liabilities and net
income. You may also now sort the journal by adjustment type if desired. The
"Adjustment Journal" report type in Report Master has been revised to
allow you a choice of which type of entries to include in the report, or whether
to include all entries. For existing journals, where this column is blank,
reposting the journal to the trial balance causes all entries to be marked with
an A (normal adjustment). From there you can change them as appropriate either
by selecting EDIT or escaping from the menu and typing them in manually. Thanks
to Lewis Crain, Rutledge & Crain, Arlington, TX, for suggesting this in his
annual user survey. A future update will provide a materiality report for passed
entries in all journals collectively.
2) The title of the combined proprietary/similar trust fund statement (Exhibit A-4) has been made more flexible to handle additional unusual situations, such as when there is a nonexpendable trust fund but no proprietary funds and when there is a proprietary discretely presented component unit.
3) The "Notes to Prior Users" chapter of online help has been updated with the Engine changes through 2/3/01.
AUDITWARE ENGINE UPDATE 2/3/01
When selecting "Make an install disk from a file downloaded from the
internet (TheAudit.com)" from the AuditWare Tools menu or "Make an
AuditWare install disk" from the "Tools Seldom Used" menu, you
are now prompted if the diskette you are using already contains files and given
the opportunity to delete the old files from the diskette before proceeding.
This means you can use the same diskette for both the engine and product if
desired, or use any diskette lying around without first verifying that it is
blank. Always answer Yes when asked if you want to delete the existing files
from the diskette unless you have inadvertently inserted a diskette that
contains files you want to keep (in which case switch to a different diskette).
Don't use the same diskette for both the engine and product if you have other
computers you want to update, since only the engine OR the product (whichever
you created last) will be on the diskette.
AUDITWARE ENGINE UPDATE 2/2/01
In Report Master, as problem has been corrected associated with naming a report
when it is initially established.
AUDITWARE ENGINE UPDATE
1/31/01
In Report Master when using AuditWare for Windows, all reports are now printed
with the "shrink to fit columns" feature active. This means the
Working Trial Balance report type may now be printed with portrait instead of
landscape orientation if desired. This feature is not available when running
under DOS.
AUDITWARE ENGINE UPDATE
1/29/01
1) For the benefit of ALG users, the same type of "formulas" (AS, RE-EX,
etc) which can be used in the MIN column of financial statement setups may now
also be used in the "Always keep this row" column. If the formula
evaluates to an amount not equal to zero, that row will be kept. This should
make the need to use specific row references less frequent.
2) When selecting QUIT from the chart of accounts menu and client data has been established, you now have an option to go to FieldWork, OfficeWork, etc., rather than being returned automatically to the Access Menu.
AUDITWARE ENGINE UPDATE
1/25/01
A technical problem was corrected in correction with use of the "Treat As
Due From/To Account?" column of financial statement setups in ALG and the
change included in the last update has been further perfected.
AUDITWARE ENGINE UPDATE
1/24/01
For the benefit of ALG users, the process of relating the active status of one
line in a financial statement setup to that of another now works in the general
purpose and combining statements in addition to individual fund statements when
the relate is in reverse. A reverse relate is set up by entering a negative
number in the "Always keep this row" column. This negative number
means "If that row is inactive, make this row active. if that row is
active, make this row inactive."
AUDITWARE ENGINE UPDATE
1/22/01
The process of producing lead schedules in ALG for unusual situations has been
further perfected. See item 2 of 1/18/01 engine update below.
AUDITWARE ENGINE UPDATE
1/21/01
1) The capacity of combining budget comparison statements for capital project
funds has been increased from 27 to 81 budgeted funds.
2) The exhibit number (B-7, B-8, etc) for each file of those statements is now automatically kept the same, making it unnecessary to use the settings menu to change exhibit numbers when you have more than 27 capital projects funds or special revenue funds.
3) A formatting problem has been corrected on the final column of the first file of those statements and the bolding and font of the client's name on combining statements is now retained..
AUDITWARE ENGINE UPDATE
1/18/01
1) In Report Master, variance reports may now be produced which contain all
classes (the entire trial balance) if desired, rather than having to produce
separate reports for revenues, expenditures, etc. This change was suggested by
several users. To produce such a report, select "TRIAL_BALANCE" from
the variance report menu (the last item).
2) For the benefit of ALG users, lead schedules produced by Report Master for financial statement categories will now read specified account groups (SAGS) limited to specific funds when "combine-to" numbers have been set to aggregate funds.
AUDITWARE ENGINE UPDATE
1/17/01
Technical changes were made as follows:
1) The process of loading Specified Account Groups (SAGs) by the FieldWork
module has been revised to accommodate older files which do not have a SAGS2
column.
2) In Report Master, the process of establishing and saving new reports has been revised to avoid printing to file, an activity which sometimes malfunctions when running under Windows NT.
3) In Report Master, when using a product other than Audit I.S.D. for Texas School Districts (TSD) the selection list of combined funds has been revised to omit fund types active only in TSD (such as "State Special Revenue Funds").
AUDITWARE ENGINE UPDATE
1/16/01
Additional work has been done to expand the number of rows available for
individual fund statements. In some areas of AuditWare the capacity has been
increased to 650 rows. In others, 800 and 1000 rows.
AUDITWARE ENGINE UPDATE
1/15/01
1) In an important change for all users, the prior year's input file (FieldWork
module) for the notes to the financial statements may now be used as the
starting point for this year's notes if desired. To do this, go to the notes in
FieldWork and select UTILITIES, then LAST_YEAR from the menu.
2) For the benefit of ALG users, you may now go to the first occurrence of a SAG name while in either the individual object code or function code definitions setups. A list of all unique SAG names in the file is generated for you to select from. Also, while previously you could go to the first occurrence of a fund number, function code or object code of your choosing, you may now specify a combination of these codes, such as fund 10, function 25, object 3500.
3) When printing lead schedules of multiple categories with Report Master, you are now asked only once if you want to include data from all funds in the same report, rather than being asked the same question for each category selected.
AUDITWARE ENGINE UPDATE

A new setting has been added which allows you to exclude memorandum totals from
the general purpose budget comparison statement (Exhibit A-3) if desired. The
new setting is located in the "Exhibit Creation" category of settings
(last on the list). These memorandum totals are allowed but not required by
GAAP.
AUDITWARE ENGINE UPDATE
1/13/01
For the primary benefit of ALG users, FieldWork module financial statement
reports now include proprietary combining and proprietary individual fund
statements. These are the reports which are accessed by selecting GO_TO,
REPORTS, STATEMENT from the main FieldWork module menu.
AUDITWARE ENGINE UPDATE
1/11/01
The following changes will primarily benefit ALG users:
1) The maximum numbers of lines which may be included in an individual fund
financial statement setup has been increased from 550 to 600 lines.
2) The default bottom margin for individual fund financial statements has been changed from .01 to .3 of an inch. For reports in progress, these statements will automatically be printed with the new .3 margin if the current margin is set for .01. This change makes it easier for the program to count the numbers of pages included in the print range.
3) Changing the "Combine To" fund number in the Individual Fund category of settings to present multiple funds in a single column now also works for individual fund statements, in addition to the combining ones. For reports in progress, you must re-save the trial balances of the funds which are being combined (except for the target fund) in both the current and prior year after installing this update. If a number of funds are involved you may find it simpler to select "Refresh the current client's data files" from the FieldWork UTILITIES menu, which re-saves all funds.
4) When setting up an "Exhibit" setup, a column titled "User Notes" is now available for entering user remarks or reminder notes if desired.
5) When in the setup for individual function code or object code definitions, loading the menu no longer takes the user to the top of the setup.
6) The "quick help" for specified account groups on the exhibit setup screen has been expanded and clarified.

1) For the benefit of ALG users, the "Limit To This Fund Number"
column in financial statement setups is now honored by Report Master when
creating lead schedules using financial statement categories (see last update).
2) For the benefit of ALG users, financial statement setups containing blank rows may now be used in Report Master for creating lead schedules using financial statement categories.
3) added 1:30 PM - The engine and product changes occurring since August 2000 have been added to chapter 9 of on-line help, "Notes To Prior Users."
AUDITWARE ENGINE UPDATE
1/04/01
For the benefit of ALG users, the process of limiting a line of a financial
statement setup to a particular fund number (the "Limit To This Fund
Number?" column) may now be used with budgeted accounts (revenues and
expenditures). It previously was limited to balance sheet accounts.
