"Setting Up Financial Statements
for GASB 34"
A hands-on workshop using
AuditWare for Local Governments (ALG), the most powerful software in the
industry for local government audit reporting! (4 CPE Credits)
The time to learn about producing GASB 34 statements for a local government is now, even if you are not involved with actual implementation this year. Since AuditWare allows you to switch back and forth between the old and new reporting models, you can begin setting up the financial statements now without disturbing your old model statements and get ahead of the learning curve. Also, you will undoubtedly want to produce draft statements in GASB 34 format for some of your clients to show them the impact on equity. We expect all existing users who will be implementing or experimenting with GASB 34 this year for a local government to be represented at one of these seminars..
Summary of Content
Since the basics of dealing with GASB 34 in AuditWare are covered in the
full-day seminars, attendance at one of those seminars is a prerequisite to this
one. This morning session will concentrate on how to set up financial statements
for the new reporting model, including how to revise existing ones, but will
also cover the ALG general features which have changed since last year. Included
will be the following: 1) A brief review of the basics of financial statement
setup procedures, including the most efficient sequence; 2) Setting up the fund
level statements, including use of the new "major/nonmajor fund"
column of those setups; 3) Using the new AW (AuditWare chart of accounts) and
RFN (revenue function) columns of the setup to produce the government-wide
statements; 4) Setting up for the new, "Round up the usual suspects"
command and for automated adjustments associated with the new government-wide
adjustment journal; 5) How to enter a SAG (specified account group) name
directly in the trial balance (a "breakthrough" new feature); 6) Since
ALG allows for use of any chart of accounts, regardless of how illogical, we
will discuss how to overcome some of the common challenges quickly and speed up
the process.
Hands-On, Fast-Moving, Spiced-Up, Get-To-The-Point Training
You are encouraged to bring your own notebook computer. An overhead projector will also be displaying the live computer on a large projection screen for the benefit of those without computers and to keep everyone "on the same page." We'll have the latest AuditWare program and a sample client available for installation on all computers at the start of the day. In the case of those attending who are not already AuditWare users, this will be a 30-day free trial version.
We try to make our workshops the best and most enjoyable you attend all year. Since they sometimes deal with rather dry and complex material, we try hard to make them fun and lively, provide a variety of learning methods and spice them up with humor when possible.
Other Workshop Information
It starts at
8:30 and ends at noon. Four CPE credits are available. Go to "Dates &
