2005 AuditWare Engine Updates

ENGINE UPDATE 12/21/05
The process of creating custom lead schedules in Report Master has been improved to avoid a conflict with using SAGs in the trial balances.

ENGINE UPDATE 12/7/05
The phrase "- Not For Distribution" has been added to the "draft" footer for printing when the setting is set to use such a footer. Previously the footer only included the word "DRAFT:", followed by the date and time of printing. Thanks to Peggy Lantz of Karen A. Jacks and Assoc., P.C. of Longview, Texas for suggesting this change.

ENGINE UPDATE 11/27/05
The process of making a backup copy of the government-wide adjustment journal (see 11/3/05 Engine Update, 2nd item, below) has been improved in that:
1) The backup copy is now made only when there are 8 or more normal adjustment lines of data (ISF lookback adjustments are now excluded).
2) A command to restore the backup journal to be the actual journal has been added to Government-wide journal menu (select TOOLS).

ENGINE UPDATE 11/17/05
The 11/2/05 update, second item (see below), has been changed to correct a problem with budget comparisons being removed in error in certain circumstances (those which are not redundant were sometimes being removed).

ENGINE UPDATE 11/8/05
The process of importing a paragraph in the FieldWork version of the notes to the financial statements has been improved to prevent an occasional error. The import.bat batch file has also been changed, meaning that a version of AuditWare Utilities dated 11/8/05 or later must also be downloaded and installed.

ENGINE UPDATE 11/3/05
1) The delinquent tax schedule, used primarily for Texas school audit reports, has been revised to cause the column headings to change automatically for schools which have changed their fiscal year to June 30th and to deal with the special headings and footnote required in the first year of the change. Thanks to John Pechacek, CPA, in Bellville, Texas for pointing out the need for this change.
2) A backup copy of the government-wide adjustment journal is now saved each time it is normally saved and it contains 8 or more lines of data.

ENGINE UPDATE 11/2/05
1) The process of saving the government-wide adjustment journal has been changed to prevent it being saved when it contains no entries. Since this prevents a user from deleting all entries from the journal manually, a new command has been added under the TOOLS option for deleting all entries of the journal.
2) When multiple budget comparison schedules are present for the same fund on the OfficeWork menu, the redundant ones are now automatically removed. Previously this required a call for support.

ENGINE UPDATE 10/18/05
In the OfficeWork Module when selecting the option to view last year's file for a particular exhibit or document, you are now asked if you want to save your work in the current year file, if any, before doing so. Thanks to Paul Fleming of Mathis, West, Huffines & Co., Wichita Falls, TX for suggesting this.

ENGINE UPDATE 10/14/05
A change was made to assure that all appropriate selections show up on the list when the user selects GoTo, Input, Other-Input from the FieldWork Module menu. For TSD users, the selection for "Perform input for a PEIMS file" was being omitted in some cases.

ENGINE UPDATE 10/13/05
The table of contents has been changed to reflect the new title of the yellow book opinion letter.

ENGINE UPDATE 10/12/05
Changes were made to the first two auditor reports (letters) to correct instances in which they were not in compliance with the current PPC examples. Thanks to Snow, Garrett and Company of Weatherford, Texas, for bringing this to our attention.

ENGINE UPDATE 10/3/05
A change was made to allow trial balance SAGS to be used in association with the bottom (general revenue) section of the statement of activities.

ENGINE UPDATE 9/20/05
A correction was made to the 9/19/2005 update.

ENGINE UPDATE 9/19/05
1) An improvement was made to the 9/15/05 update, as well as to financial statement creation when both the SAG! and SAG2 columns of the trial balance are used.
2) The Management Report, an AuditWare proprietary application used by only one firm, has been deactivated, since it is not currently in use.

ENGINE UPDATE 9/15/05
In Report Master, lead schedules may now be created for lines in a financial statement which use SAG names which are entered in the trial balance.

ENGINE UPDATE 8/11/05
On the OffIceWork Module "Create" menu, a command has been added when running Audit I.S.D. for Texas School Districts for creation of a PEIMS file. The command previously existed only under "Utilities."

ENGINE UPDATE 8/9/05
1) On the OfficeWork module menus, the time of day at which an exhibit or document was last created is now listed, as well as the date as in the past;
2) A technical change was made in the SAVEGANAMES routine in the FieldWork module to prevent a "worksheet full" error from occurring on rare occasions when running ALG.

ENGINE UPDATE 8/1/05
Under "Use AuditWare Tools," the utility for deleting data periods now lists data with a fiscal year digit of 5 as 2005 data rather than 1995 data. Thanks to Roy Salinas of Oscar Gonzales, CPA, Pharr, Texas, for catching and reporting this.

ENGINE UPDATE 7/20/05
Changes were made to accommodate today's update of the TSD product in regard to the FieldWork input for PEIMS.

ENGINE UPDATE 7/14/05
Control J will now justify text in the third (right-most) column of the Summary of Prior Audit Findings. This is the column which reports the client's response to items which have not been acted on. Previously, Control J worked only in the first column.

ENGINE UPDATE 7/10/05
1) There is now an option in the FieldWork module for importing the input from last year for the federal SEFA schedule.
2) The command for creating a PEIMS file has been added to the OfficeWork Module UTILITIES menu. See the changes for the TSD product this date for more information. The command only shows up when running that product.

ENGINE UPDATE 5/24/05
When AuditWare automatically sets the "Restricted For" code (120, 121, etc.) for beginning equity in a trial balance when the trial balance is saved, the class of the object code is now taken into account. This automatic feature is based on the "Restricted For" setting which is a part of the equity closing code setting in Individual Fund Settings. This change will only be useful to users of AuditWare for Local Governments when the client uses the same object code for equity as for another item which is of another class.

ENGINE UPDATE 5/3/05
1) The auditor's opinion on the financial statements has been revised. The paragraph referring to the Yellow Book report has been changed to conform to the current example in PPC's Guide to Audits of Local Governments. 2) The Yellow Book auditor's report has been revised. It's title has been changed, the sequence of paragraphs changed and other revisions made to conform to PPC's current example. 3) The major program auditor's report was revised to add the phrase "caused by error or fraud" when discussing noncompliance per the current PPC example.

ENGINE UPDATE 3/10/05
Up to nine major funds are now accommodated on the basic balance sheet for governmental funds and the basic operating statement for governmental funds. The previous limit was seven.

ENGINE UPDATE 2/14/05
Further work has been done perfecting the 1/2/05 update (see below).

ENGINE UPDATE 1/6/05
1) When a "restricted for" is entered manually (by selecting GoTo, Input, Other Input from the FieldWork module menu), the amount of unrestricted net assets is now computed correctly.
2) A rare problem with the SAGS of another client being saved in the CODEMAKE.WK3 file has been corrected.

ENGINE UPDATE 1/2/05
When producing a lead schedule in Report Master based on a financial statement setup, the maximum lines of the setup which can be viewed for selection has been increased from 850 to 1500 lines.
